About the Monastery of the Holy Name

The main activity of our team is Harinama Sankitana. To make this service more efficient and to inspire other devotees, we decided to establish the Monastery of the Holy Name. Ananda Vardhana Prabhu created the idea of this project in 2011. In 2014, Dasharatha Suta Prabhu donated the land for the future construction of the Monastery.
The goals of the Monastery:
1. Bramachari Training
We are creating a training center for brahmacharis to educate and nurture brahmacharis in the spirit of Harinama Sankirtana:
How to become strong in Krishna Consciousness (sadhana, learning sastras and the significance of chanting the Holy Name);
How to play musical instruments and lead a kirtan;
How to distribute the books of Srila Prabhupada.
2. Vanaprastha Support
We will provide a place to live for vanaprasthas to live, where they will be given care. Their presence will strengthen the faith of the brahmacharis to continue their service in the ashram. Vanaprastha devotees will have an opportunity to stay in Vaishnava society until the end of their days and get inspiration, communication, and care, which will help them fully concentrate on the main purpose of life – love for Krishna.
3. Other devotees
We will provide an opportunity for devotees from other yatras (for prabhus only) to try the spiritual atmosphere of the ashram for themselves and to receive proper brahmachari education and inspiration.

The Monastery is situated in Lithuania, 10 km to the north from the middle of the Kaunas-Vilnius highway (there is a train station at Zasly, 4 km from the Monastery). Nearby is situated a nature reserve. The territory of the Monastery is 14 ga. There are two dwellings, one wooden and one brick, plus a cow-house and a work-house. The wooden house serves as the Altar room and the brahmachari ashram. The brick house is for senior devotees and guests. In cow-house, there are five cows and two bulls. In addition, there are greenhouses and land for vegetable garden, fruit trees and bushes.
